Embracing a vegetarian lifestyle can be daunting. Maybe not so much about missing meat but being able to afford a plant-based diet when veggie prices remain high.
That’s why vegan food outlets like ELPI Veg Haus can be a godsend. ELPI offers a bunch of P99 meals — a worthy alternative to the usual fastfood fare.
We sampled the ELPInaSulit P99 Meals Spaghetti with Malunggay, Fries, Perky Tocino Vurger, and Chick’n Fillet with Turmeric Rice on a Sunday afternoon at their outlet at the Food by the Court along Sen. Gil Puyat and Bautista in Makati. The verdict: flavorful and filling.
The Spaghetti is party-style sweet but not overwhelmingly so. The Burger is doused with a mayo-mustard sauce and taste like a lot like, well, a burger. The Chicken Fillet is crunchy and served with gravy that doesn’t taste like mock gravy at all.
If you’ve been wanting to try getting into plant-based eating or just want to take a break from meat, ELPI Veg Haus can be a great way to eat healthfully without denting your pocket.
