I had an impromptu ride to Antipolo one fine Friday morning. The weather was ideal for a ride - cool with passing clouds. Being in Pasig, Antipolo was quite accessible. The plan was to ride up to Hinulugang Taktak and Antipolo Church and have brunch along the way back. Agos Cafe was noticeable on my way up passing by Hollywood Terraces along Sumulong highway. I thought it would be nice to have coffee and a snack here on my way down.
Agos Cafe
During the pandemic, a lot of micro-entrepreneurs were born. Pop-up cafes were one of those industries which grew during this time. Agos Cafe was one of them. I first saw them by the banks of Marikina River. I never got the chance to try them as they were either closed or I already had coffee whenever I passed them by. Agos is a Tagalog word which means “to flow” in English. The name relates to the nearby river.
Al Fresco in Antipolo
To my surprise, I saw Agos Cafe in Antipolo on their social media page. At first, I thought it was a branch but after dining here, I learned they moved here now.
It’s actually a nice breezy place at the pedestrian level of Hollywood Terraces. Easy to spot by the road and people can notice the cafe passing by. A few tables and chairs with large umbrellas. Hanging racks for bicycles which is plus for me. The view are the trees across Sumulong highway.
The stall is standard in size but gives nice touches by displaying some vintage items like old Olympus film cameras and using wheel-set lights. Also on display are the different beans they use in the cafe.
Sandwich and Iced Coffee
I wanted something cold and refreshing but still coffee-based. I had the cold White Mocha. For a snack, I had the Hungarian Sausage which is the only sandwich available at that time. Looking at the menu on their Facebook page, they also have some bake mac pasta, and other sandwiches like spam, tuna, and chicken. On weekends, occasional rice meals. Their menu changes depending on what’s available so make sure to check out the menu board.
The White Mocha tasted good. No sugar, only the rich mocha, coffee, and milk flavors blending well. I was surprised by the Hungarian Sausage. They used pita bread and had chips on the side. The sausage was large and flavorful too. I never thought I would feel satiated after having these.
Quite satisfied with my dine-in experience here. Bike-friendly, good value coffee and meals and cool ambiance. A nice stop after a ride up Antipolo or a good way to replenish some energy for the climb ahead. Oh there’s parking at the terraces if you just wanna ride up here. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back if I find myself in the area again.
