Daet is the best place to get a good introduction to Bicolano cuisines. Contrary to what many think, Bicol is not all spicy. Daet spice scale is tempered down. Being the first Bicol region in the west, the influence from Quezon and Batangas is apparent. For our #DateinDaet tour, we got to binge on some of the local delicacies and modern favorites in between our activities. Here are some of the establishments you should checkout.
Kick Milk Tea
There's nothing better than to start a hot sunny morning with a good dose of a refreshing drink. Kick Milk Tea, the first milk tea place in Camarines Norte has the perfect blend of flavors with carefully picked ingredients from Taiwan. The place is cozy and ideal for hangout. I had the Chocolate Hazelnut Milk Tea the flavor was delightful. Do try their snacks, my favorites were the Pimiento and the Spicy Tuna delivering just the right spicy kick!

Bigg's Diner
If there's one place fastfoods J and M can't be beat, it's in Bicol where Bigg's Diner is the big thing. Having eaten at their Naga branch, it's nice to see Bigg's in Daet sporting the funky retro atmosphere Bigg's is known for throughout their branches, there's a twist for Daet – a tribute to the surfer lifestyle which Daet is known for is depicted on the 3D mural.
The food didn't come short. I enjoyed the tender and savory Baby Back Ribs, I definitely dig the Spicy Chicken Wings but all in all, nothing could compare on how I decimated part of the multi-layered filling of the Tower Burger. Something you should devour once in your life.

Kundalini Healthy Cuisine
Healthy need not always be bland. Kundalini serves up some mean dose of fresh fruit juices and veggie smoothies with price so competitive its feels guilty not order one. Come on! A large Super Fiber Smoothie for just Php 50?! For snacks try out their Pad Thai and Fresh Spring Rolls.

Alvino's Roast Grill and Fry
A famous roast brand in the region, they are also known to serve mounth-watering pizzas. While I never got to try their Sisig Pizza or Roast Chicken, I did get to try their savory Chicken Burger and smokey Beef Burger. Oh they also have the best Mango shake I've tasted but their Choco shake was worth my multiple brain-freeze just to finish it off before we left.

Chef's Mama
For authentic Bicolano cuisines, Chef's Mama is definitely the place to go to. I love their Pinangat. It's not as spicy as I want it to be but the filling and coconut sauce was well made. it would be a great introduction to those who wants to try original Bicol dishes. I also got to try their Spare Ribs, the meat was really soft and juicy. I thought their caramel cake was just okay.

Janah's Pasalubong
To share some of the flavors of Bicol at home, do visit Janah's Pasalubong in Daet for some tasty treats. I recommend their Pili Roll, a bread roll with really tasty yema filling made with pili nuts. It's not too sweet which I really liked. The flaky and bite-sized Pandecillos also have stuffed pili. The Masa Podrida, their version of puto seko is star shaped but is so good it easily melts in your mouth. A perfect combination with coffee.
